Our Team
Nathan Hobday MNI
Marine Director

Driven by a passion for the maritime sector and an apparent inability to give up his actual day job, Nathan established Red Lion Marine Ltd in 2017. He remains responsible for the company’s general direction, questionable purchasing decisions and answering the phone when everyone else has conveniently disappeared.
Jake Crosby
Operations Manager

Jake is an experienced Chief Officer from the world of exploration shipping, having sailed across some of the planet’s most remote waters on a variety of interesting projects. He now manages operations from Teesside, where the scenery is arguably less exotic but the problems arrive considerably faster

Paul Slimmings
Senior Skipper
Slim comes from a fishing background, having spent most of his career working the North Sea. He brings a wealth of boat-handling experience and has been with us since the beginning. Much like our Rigid Raiders, Slim is rough, tough, built for the North Sea and showing absolutely no signs of being retired from service
Robbie Breeze
Skipper, Painter & Decorator

Joining in 2025, Robbie brings a lifetime of North Sea fishing experience and the ability to complain continuously, regardless of conditions.
When ashore, he’s RLM’s resident painter and decorator, we gave him a paintbrush once and he made the mistake of doing a decent job.
Steve Fordham
Deck Foreman

A Red Lion OG, Steve has been part of the furniture since the early days. Officially part of the deck crew, he’s mainly here for the merchandise, photo opportunities and the occasional free lunch. His actual duties remain unclear, but he continues to turn up, so we’ve stopped asking questions.
Ian Douglas
Chief Engineer

Ian joined RLM full-time in summer 2024 after previously being on call whenever we'd broken something. Following a long career with the RNLI as a Fleet Mechanic, he is exceptionally well qualified and, more importantly, apparently capable of folding himself into spaces the boatbuilder never intended a humanbeing to enter.
